Imported directly from Oaxaca, Mexico, these handmade clay copitas are perfect for sipping mezcal or tequila and make a great addition to your home or bar. A great conversation piece or a one-of-a-kind gift with face detail on one side and agave on the other.
Each copita is made by hand, from natural, gathered clays, outside of Oaxaca de Juarez, in the same tradition that dates back hundreds of years. One type of clay is used to form the vessel and another is used to give the beautiful red coloring. They are then fired over open flame, leaving some cups uniquely marked by wisps of fire; and then burnished by hand, usually with a small stone, to give the finish. Each piece is ethically made with generations of craft and care, bringing you a unique and beautiful way to enjoy mezcal.
*Purchasing this item supports indigenous artisan communities in Oaxaca, helping them continue to thrive through their tradition and craft.
*A portion of net proceeds of this item have been pledged to Fondo Guadalupe Musalem; an organization in Oaxaca helping young Oaxacan women with limited economic resources to carry out their education.
*Due to the open flame firing of these cups, some will potentially feature unique markings from the flames
